Farley Pearce
Cellist Farley Pearce, a North Carolina native, left full-time symphony
orchestra work in Charleston and came west when his wife joined the San
Fraqncisco Opera Orchestra in 1992. As a Bay Area freelancer he now
enjoys a rich variety of musical endeavors including the recent
recording of Argentinian opera and tangos at Skywalker Studios and the
performance of 15th century music of Josquin desPres at the Tage Alter
Musik festival in Regensburg, Germany. A typical weekend might include
performing a Bach Passion on violone (double bass sized viola da gamba),
wedding ceremonies on cello, rehearsals for upcoming San Francisco Early
Music Society concerts with the Sex Chordae Consort of Viols, or a
Mozart opera with Pocket Opera. Farley has also performed with many bay
area orchestras, including Philharmonia Baroque. Recent recordings on
Centaur Records include music of Schein, Monteverdi and Josquin desPrez.
